Officials from the Kenyan ministry of Foreign affairs said that they haven’t received any information from Saudi authorities about Kenyans arrested for being illegally in the Kingdom. They added that Saudi authorities usually inform foreign missions about arrest of their citizens in the kingdom and thus the Kenyan embassy in Riyadh hasn't received any reports.
However, Saudi departments of passport said that on daily
basis they receive upto 5 cases from the Kenyan embassy on Kenyans who wish to
return home and such cases are treated as returnees and individuals undergo
normal procedures which include finger printing and screening to ensure that a
person has not committed any criminal acts.
They added that the process of deportation takes quite sometime due to the paper work involved which has to go through various departments such as passport department, labor ministry and the ministry of interior.
The ongoing crackdown on violators of labor and residency
laws has seen more than 100,000 expatriates arrested and tens of thousands deported
to their home countries.
