The
bilateral labor agreement between Kenya and Saudi Arabia is at its final stage
according to Kenya’s deputy ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
Ibrahim
Khamis Aden, the deputy ambassador has told local Saudi media that negotiations
between Kenya and Saudi Arabia are continuing and preparations for the signing
of the labor pact will happen before the end of the year.
Mr.
Ibrahim added that officials from both countries have exchanged their proposals
and that Kenyan domestic workers will start to arrive in the kingdom as soon as
the agreement is signed.
However,the
deputy ambassador emphasized on the importance of the Saudi government to show
its commitment in protecting Kenyan domestic workers in the Kingdom.
Officials
within the Saudi ministry of labor had earlier reported that there are no
obstacles in signing the long awaited agreement between Kenya and that only
Kenya had delay as it’s completing its internal regulation of recruitment of
domestic workers to the Middle East.
