Major telecom companies in Saudi Arabia are planning to
stop free Internet calls services in few weeks’ time.
According to sources, telecommunication companies are seeking
to stop free internet calls services through platforms such as Facebook’s messenger
calls, Imo,Skype, Tango and Line.
This move by telecommunication companies in the kingdom is
to ensure clients make use of the traditional voice calls systems as well as to
ensure free internet calls doesn’t affect revenues of the telecom companies.
Earlier in March this year telecom companies blocked Whatsapp calling service in what they termed as “huge impact” the service had
on their business.
Majority of people in the kingdom use internet based voice
and video calls service to communicate with their friends and families and this
move will have a great impact on them.
