Kenyan women have been arrested in Saudi Capital after being caught engaging in
prostitution.
According
to Riyadh Police Spokesman Col. Fawaz Al-Maiman the Kenyan women were arrested
after a raid that was conducted in a residential building Dar AlBaida area, south of the
capital.
The
Kenyans are said to have been part of the prostitution racket that was ran by 3
Pakistani men who also used the same building as a brothel and in manufacturing
liquor.
Col.
Fawaz said that the building was under surveillance prior to the raid.
The Kenyan
women together with the 3 Pakistanis are in custody and are set to appear in
court and be charged.
Under
the Saudi law, engaging in prostitution and illegal activities such as sale of
drugs and alcohol carries jail terms of upto 5 years and flogging.
Its’
not the first time Kenyans have been arrested in Saudi Arabia while engaging in
illegal vices and most of them are women who came to the Kingdom as housemaids
but run way from their employees so as to seek better jobs but end up in doing
unscrupulous businesses so as to earn more and this has become tendency among
many Kenyan women.
